Beauty for Ashes

Isaiah 61:36

"God says "I will give you beauty for ashes,

oil of gladness for mourning."

Stephanie Jordan

I am the owner and master stylist at Beauty For Ashes Salon and Colorbar. A 20 year career in cosmetology inspired me to open a salon focused on kindness, fun and fabulous hair art. I specialize in color application, formulation and haircutting.  I will turn a drab lifeless style into a natural or funky inspired color with a maintainable haircut.  Styling has never been my favorite part of hair but using Kevin Murphy has reintroduced a love of styling hair for me.  My professional goal is to create an inviting environment with a well educated, inspired and friendly staff and to create amazing hair love that my clients can feel beautiful everyday.

I am also the author of A Dose of Reality and we stock the book at the salon if you’d like a copy.

Jessica Wunderlich

Eight years experience in the cosmetology field has led me to thoroughly enjoy all aspects of color manipulation and I am constantly pushing myself to learn and use new techniques. I specialize in blonde, dimensional balayage, color corrections and bright vivid rainbow shades. A guest may leave my chair with violet purple or a soft natural brunette balayage. I am able to create amazing updo’s and am a master at braiding techniques for event styles. Listening to my clients hair goals and educating them on the best hair care for their texture and style are always my professional goals. As far as my personal technique of cut and style, I am influenced to create texture, flow, and softness in hair. Though, as a girl with fine and thin textured hair, I am also no stranger to pumping up the volume!

Kisa Powell

Originally licensed in 2009, I took a break to serve with the US Army National Guard for 5 years. Upon returning to my passion of cosmetology, I began spearheading the deaf friendly culture for Beauty For Ashes Salon and Colorbar. American Sign Language is my first language and I have a respect for deaf culture trying to incorporate into the hearing world.

I specialize in cutting and styling and controlling curly hair textures. I am a multi ethnic stylist and can conquer various unruly hair types. I love to do color and color correction. I am skilled in applying different kinds of hair extensions including bead in and tape in’s. My professional goal is to be well educated in cutting and color techniques so that deaf and hearing clients alike can manifest their inner and outer beauty for the whole world to see.

Kara Isbell

I have been a professional stylists since 2011, but my roots go a lot deeper than that. Coming from a naturally artistic family, currently having 2 other beauticians on my mother's side. I have been experimenting with color and cutting throughout my life, from edgy red and black feauxhawks done on my brother to playing with several different coloring techniques on myself over the years. I studied at the Aveda Institute of Birmingham and am now cutting, coloring, and styling my way to a successful career at Beauty for Ashes. I specialize in men's cuts, balayage and free painting techniques, and  I enjoy expanding my skills for bridal and event styles each day.

Rebecca Weiler

I originated from Minnesota, having moved to Alabama when I was 15 years old. I have been licensed since 2014. I discovered my love for cosmetology while a senior in high school, spending every chance I could to explore to every aspect of the industry.  I view what I do through an artist’s perspective, using cosmetology as my medium to create my art. I enjoy doing fun and trendy cuts, styles, and colors for both men and women; from balayage and color melts, to fades and textured cuts. I strive to always combine my creativity and my passion for helping others to allow anyone to be their own masterpiece.

Andrea Nunn

My early career life was spent in the service/bar industry and it gave me some great skill sets but left me desiring more. I knew I was built for cosmetology. I started a side job at Beauty for Ashes Salon and Colorbar while attending cosmetology school and knew I had found what I was looking for. I started an apprenticeship that has taught me so much about the salon culture and doing all things hair. I learned to master techniques and challenge myself to stretch out of the box. I specialize in vivid colors and braiding, especially "festival braids".  I have a passion for pushing the envelope for how much fun one can have with their hair. But if you just need to get your roots done, I got you too, Boo.

Tara Mize

My passion for cosmetology began at a young age. I expressed this love by doing makeovers at slumber parties and up dos at senior prom.  Immediately after high school graduation, I attended Aveda Institute Birmingham and became a licensed cosmetologist in 2010. My nearly 10 years in the industry has been infused with growth as a stylist. I specialize in men and women's cutting and special occasion hair. I love all things blonde! Being able to create an outer image of a person's true beauty, teaching them to care for their hair well, is what continue to fuels my passion for hair love. I joined the Beauty for Ashes Salon and Colorbar team in June 2019.
